In the spring of 1999, I traveled to Dar Es Salaam Tanzania to make a documentary film about a the US Ambassador who had just moved his family from Boston to the back yard of the most recent terrorist attack on the United States. How could this man move his wonderful family to a location where literally months before, 11 people had been killed? When I got there, my plans changed, the Ambassador left on business to South Africa. I had no film. With a stroke of luck, I found Mama Hadija, a local woman who started an Ad Hoc orphanage. Many children lived in the streets of Dar if their parents died of AIDS or drown in the Lake Victoria ferry crash. This short film was produced to raise money for the children of CHAKUWAMA. Since '99 a few thousand dollars have been donated for school, clothing and food. Until today, I have lagged in taking this message to the web. The day has finally come. I will do my best to save dimes, quarters and dollars to help their cause. If you feel a connection to this story, I would ask you to do the same, contact me to donate or learn more.

Sorry, it may take a minute to start :) this was shot on Hi8 analog and digitized.
