The Harlem Renaissance: Unto Whom Much is Given, Much is Required? Bookmark and Share

Believe it or not, this was the first video/film I ever made. Percy Stith and I produced this film for the final of a class at Bates College. The interview cast happens to include 2 of the most popular Black figures in America today. Cornel West, a Harvard Professor at the time, has written numerous books and is highly regarded as one of the most influential Western Philosophers. William Pope.L, a professor at Bates College at the time, is now an internationally known performance artist. See more about William Pope.L's Black Factory in his embedded website below.

The 3rd interviewee in this video is Rolf Gidlow, an unlikely candidate, as he was and continues to be an alpine ski coach. An incredibly brilliant man, Rolf, has studied the Harlem Renaissance and provides a great deal of incite in this film.

Please watch this video, there are more than a handful of classic moment and philosophical tokens. If you watch to the very end, you will be treated to an outtake of Cornel West waving to a young lady walking by, priceless.
